Wherever we travel - we like to try the local food but we ALwAYs have to find a good taco spot. - and this is it. Tacos de al pastor y carne asada with una michelada (negra modelo) las salsa también están buenas. We like the habanero one best. But all were tasty. Ok look, here the tHing, if you go to a a taqueria and the gringos our number the Mexicans... run. Run far away and never return. I'm glad we found this gem. We will be back. Gracias
I was looking for authentic Mexican food here in Destin. I drove by location, I didn't see the sign but I did see all the cars in parking lot. The food was spicy, but delicious! Definitely a great hidden treasure.
I generally don't give reviews unless something is outstanding or terrible. This taco shop is outstanding. They take three crispy tacos to an entirely higher level. The hard shells are perfect and in house made and fried. The guac, sour cream, cohita, onion and lettuce heaped on is just perfect. I'm from southern california where Mexican food is generally the best in the u.s....this place is right up there. For meat selection I especially liked the al pastor. For a drink, grapefruit Jarritos which tasted just like squirt.
I'm beyond happy that this town now has a go to spot for authentic Mexican food. I chose to hit this spot up for lunch and saw there were a lot of people there so it had to be good. Inside was nice and I liked that you can see them cook and prepare your food. I chose to get 3 tacos and some horchata. The tacos were made to order and delicious. Coming from a big city, I was afraid these tacos wouldn't live up to my standards. I was wrong. Everything is fresh and you can taste it. When you're done eating your spicy food, wash it down with some horchata. Their horchata was made the right way. It's sweet but not to the point where it's too much.
So everything about this place says home to me. The moment I walked in it smelled amazing. The options for all the meats were amazing I got a birria taco and a carne asada burrito. By far the best Birria I've had in a long time. The place was packed and it was definitely not a tourist spot. I'd come back here for sure my next trip down. Prices were pretty good considering how much good they give you. Definitely recommend the horchata.
I reserve the option to update this rating after I try more; but on first impression this may be my new Tuesday dinner spot. It's also a grocery store where you can get the meat and fixins you need to make the real thing at home too. Didn't have too much time before bowling so I only tried that which I judge every Mexican taco place, the lengua. Their lengua is braised/roasted in salsa verde and it was some of the best I've ever had. Being from Chicago,where there's no shortage of good tacos, I can say we have been lacking a great taco place near FWB. Not anymore though. Try this place out and show them some love!!!
I've been living here 4yrs and Im not now finding out about this place. Omg!!! The food is delicious, coming from San Antonio I've struggled in this area finding mexican food that was similar to Tex Mex. I've tried other places in town and was disappointed. Mi Gente is now my new favorite spot. I've been there 3 times & they never disappoint. They definitely aren't stin-gee with the meat. My tacos are always full of meat.The atmosphere is clean and the staff are very very friendly.
This is probably my favorite restaurant in Fort Walton Beach!!! I have never had a bad meal. Everytime I go, I like to try something new and never have been disappointed!! The carne asada, my favorite, is AMAZING! The chicken tacos are amazing and the shrimp is outstanding as well! This place is a must try!! This place is always clean, the staff is nice, and the food comes out fast! I love it all!
Just moved to the area from Tucson, AZ, taco capital of the world. I was really worried I would miss out on good Mexican food. I researched locations months before relocating. I found Mi Gente on Yelp. Day one in town I went to check it out, expecting to be disappointed. Boy was I wrong! Day three I went back for tacos. This place is AWESOME! Their selection of tacos includes buche, lengua, tripas, carne asada, chorizo, barbocoa, and more. If they add huevos de beccero they would be perfect! Their corn tortillas are legit and the salsa bar has some unique treats kicked up with habaneros. If you love tacos you must come here!
Still amazing, every time I go. They're opening up a restaurant inside some time soon. Likely spring or summer 2018. They'll have a more extensive menu after that, but it's great for a quick bite until then. The tacos are the best, always fresh and made to order. I wasn't crazy about the burrito I ordered once, but my friend loved it. I'll stick with the super chorizo tacos
